Vrana Lake can also boast a rich fish stock. Due to the increased salinity of the water
since the lake is located near the sea, it is inhabited by both freshwater and
marine species which makes this lake very interesting for fishing. Fishing is possible
performed in the entire area of Vrana Lake, except in the area of the ornithological reserve.
The eel is strictly protected by law due to its small population and should not be hunted, for
other species are not prohibited. Although the Vransko Lake camp belongs to the protected area
reserve, fishing is still allowed but only 300 meters from the shore by boat or kayak.
The allowed daily quantity of caught fish is 5 kilograms, with the allowed catch of one capital fish
over 5 kilograms, but then a weight surcharge is paid over the stated norm.
THE FISHING RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS: A daily catch of 2 pieces, total weight up to 8 kg, is allowed for the following species:
– (Esox lucius)
– catfish (Silurus glanis)
– Carp (Cyprinus carpio) tench
– mullet (Chelon labrosus)
– mullet (Liza ramada)
– Mugil cephalus
The allowable amount of daily catch from does not refer to trophy catch so it is allowed catch only one specimen of trophy fish per day that weighs more than 8 kg.
LOVOSTAJ:
– pike (Esox lucius)
– from 1. February to March 31st
– Carp (Cyprinus carpio)
– from 1 April to 31 May – catfish (Silurus glanis)
– 16 April to 15 June
THE MINIMUM SIZES OF FISH THAT MAY BE FISHED ARE:
– pike (Esox lucius) – 40 centimeters
– catfish (Silurus glanis) – 60 centimeters
– tench (Tinca tinca) – 20 centimeters
– Carp (Cyprinus carpio) – 40 centimeters
– mullet (Chelon labrosus) – 16 cm
– mullet (Liza ramada) – 16 cm
– mullet cephalus – 20cm
